Butterflies, bees and dragonflies are struggling to adapt to modern times and changing conditions. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is researching ways to protect several at-risk species. District ecologist Andres Ortega will discuss conservation efforts underway in local forest preserves for Baltimore checkerspot butterflies, Hine's emerald dragonflies and rusty-patched bumblebees.
District community engagement specialist Shannon Burns (of Warrenville) will share practical strategies for engaging your local community in protecting these and other key insect species. The program is free and registration is not required. Co-hosted by the DuPage Monarch Project.
