Veteran's Day Ceremony at the Warrenville VFW

Please join VFW Post 8081 Commander Jerry Gobe, the mayor, and city staff, and local veterans to honor those that have served in the US armed forces. The ceremony will be at:

Dawes by RJ LindsayCelebrate the 100th anniversary of World War I, as RJ Lindsey tells the story of the “war to end all wars” thru the eyes of Charles Dawes. You will experience the people, places and political climate that plunged the world into war. Dawes was a colorful banker and businessman that served in WWI and later became vice president and a Nobel prize winner.

6:30 pm at the Warrenville Public Library
Refreshments will be served – Registration required.

Cantigny: Free Admission, Extended Hours, and Special Programs

Cantigny celebrates Veteran's Day on November 11 with free parking and admission. Special programs include:

  • Free Admission: 10 am – 9 pm, First Division Museum is open until 9 pm
  • Luminary Candles at Cantigny Sunset to 9pm – 2000 luminary candles light the roads and Parade field. Drive thru the roads, or walk the fields. Free coffee for veterans during these hours at the café.
  • 6 and 8 pm – Historical re-enactors read letters written by soldiers
  • 7 pm – Drum and Dance performance marks the opening of a traveling Wall of Honor exhibit.

Freebies to Thank Our Veterans

Many businesses and restaurants offer free services or meals to veteran on Veteran's Day, to thank the vets for their service. Some local offerings include:

  • Red Robin - Tavern Double Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries
  • California Pizza Kitchen - Pizza, Pasta or Salad from the Veteran's Day Menu (dine in only)
  • Starbucks - Tall brewed coffee for veterans and their spouses
  • Delta Sonic - Free car wash (59 & Aurora Rd.), sponsored by Grace for Vets
  • Massage Envy - Complimentary 1 hour massage, must schedule in advance (none in Warrenville, Locations)
