STEM Cafe: Swarming Robots

From 02/11/20 6:30 pm until 02/11/20 8:30 pm

At Two Brothers Round House

Categories: Business, Home

What can we learn from bird flocks and fish schools to mitigate crowd disasters? How can we program robots to work together so one person controls an entire swarm of them? Researchers are studying the collective behaviors of fish, birds and swarming insects to answer questions like these. You may never think of a flock of birds in quite the same way again!

This program is presented by NIU Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Sachit Butail and is part of a monthly series that promotes  fun, casual gatherings where adults can eat, drink, and chat with STEM professionals about the latest scientific research. These events are free and open to the public. Food and drinks are available for purchase from the host restaurant. See STEM Cafe schedule
